Connected Care webinar series delivers education on foundational knowledge on specific medical technology.  Each webinar aims to provide an overview of up-to-date nursing practices related to the care of the technology.  These webinars will complement our competency-based education workshops offered at SickKids throughout the year.

Mode:

Webinars are delivered through a videoconferencing platform called Zoom.  This requires access to internet, a computer, tablet or smartphone (with a camera, microphone and speaker). Please make sure to download Zoom on your device prior to the webinar.

Target audience:

Nurses who support caring for a child with diabetes in the community/school setting or nurses who have previous experience caring for a child and require an update on best practices

Objectives of This Webinar:

  1. Review diabetes care, routines and management goals for children with type 1 diabetes

  2. Discuss management of urgent and non-urgent diabetes care in the school setting

  3. Demonstrate how to operate and interpret diabetes devices including blood sugar meters, continuous glucose sensors and insulin pumps

  4. Identify strategies to empower and engage students and school staff in daily diabetes care routines
